Last night, you tried to send a photo on WhatsApp… but in vain. You then decided to comment on this photo on Instagram… nothing to do. You then try to take refuge on Facebook or even on Threads. Nothing to do, everything is blocked. In a few minutes, while the average is generally 16 reports each hour, Facebook recorded no less than 97,000 reports on Downdetector. But what is going on at Meta?

Another (umpteenth) massive outage at Meta

This is not the first time, but Meta has suffered a new global technical outage, which has impacted the interactions that can be performed on the American giant’s various applications. Note that it is on the X network, the nemesis of Threads, that Meta wanted to publish a message to warn its millions of users.

Remember that already last October, many users suffered a similar outage, particularly when accessing Facebook and Instagram. In the evening, the Meta teams worked to resolve the problem, and this Thursday morning, all of the group’s services are in full possession of their resources.

At present, Meta has not deigned to give any explanations regarding this new outage which has affected its services. As for its data centers, we know that the American group will soon switch to nuclear mode for their power supply. Nuclear power is in fact one of the options favored by tech giants to power their data centers, while energy needs are exploding with the race for artificial intelligence.

Moreover, if over the past few weeks you have had the impression of having suddenly become (even more) addicted to Facebook or Instagram, it is possible that it is not just an impression. Through the use of AI, the group says it has been able to increase the time users spend on its platforms. If you’re the type to scroll endlessly on Instagram or Facebook, rest assured, you’re not alone.
