In the absence of a few weeks for the WWDC 2025which will take place on June 9, leaks begin to arrive on what the Cupertino company could present in the expected event. Siri, one of the functions that promised to be renewed and announced at that conference, could be completely forgotten.

According to the journalist Mark Gurman, one of the most reliable voices of the Apple environment, the event will tiptoe through one of the hottest issues of recent years: Siri. And not because everything works well, but because everything is far from ready.

What will Apple announce at the WWDC 2025?

The great promise of generative artificial intelligence and that Google, Microsoft or Meta have already developed much more than Apple, is that Siri would improve in 2025 to achieve an advanced version of the assistant, but finally it will not be so. Craig Federighthead of software in Apple, I did not believe that IA was a strategic axis. According to Gurman, he was reluctant to allocate important resources to a technology that, in his opinion, distracted from other objectives without offering clear guarantees of success. A vision that several senior executives of the company shared and that today is generating internal tensions. It seems that he was totally wrong.

The most serious is not the delay in the adoption of artificial intelligence tools, but the internal recognition that Siri, the virtual assistant that Apple has more than a decade promoting, does not give the size. In fact, the situation is so committed that instead of renewing the image of Siri as part of the Apple Intelligence futurethe company wants to distance him in his marketing campaigns. A movement that shows that Siri is not part of the future, or at least not for now, far behind artificial intelligence.

Worst of all, in the WWDC of 2024 an advanced version of Siri based on large -sized language models (LLM Siri) was announced, but they are still far from being available to the public. In fact, this year's event is not even expected to be mentioned. Users who have been waiting for a more proactive, useful and conversational assistant will have to continue waiting.

Meanwhile, the company is working on other functions that will be important in the short term. One of them will be the so -called Project Mulberry, a kind of coach and virtual health assistant that would be integrated with Apple Intelligence. A new battery optimization tool is also being developed, and it is planned to expand artificial intelligence capabilities to other native applications of the company. But the most striking thing is that, at least in Europe, Apple will allow completely replace Siri by third -party attendees. They have not specified which, but it is a change that, if confirmed, would mark a before and after.

The truth is that Apple's silence says more than a thousand words. If the WWDC 2025 does not talk about Siri, it is because there is nothing good to say. And that, for a company that aspires to lead the revolution of artificial intelligence, is a worrying signal.
