Over the last few months we have talked a lot about the folding iPhones that will arrive in 2026However, many characteristics remained to be revealed. Among them, what the front camera would be like, since it was imagined that it would be in the style of current iPhones, with a dynamic island, or a simple dot.

However, it seems that this will not be the case, and Apple will become the first company to implement a high-resolution under-screen camera, making that foldable iPhone even more beautiful, highlighting the dimensions of its screen, without anything that bothers us.

Camera built into the screen of foldable iPhones

Apple seems to be preparing its entry into the world of folding phones with a device that we currently know as iPhone Fold (although we don't know what it will finally be called). According to a JP Morgan report cited by MacRumors, this model will stand out for including a 24 megapixel under-display cameraa resolution much higher than that of other brands that barely reach 4 or 8 MP in this type of technology.

The under-screen camera has been one of the great challenges in smartphone design, since placing the sensor behind the panel affects the entry of light and can reduce image quality. Apple, however, would be using a system of six plastic lenses to improve sharpness and color, thus compensating for the natural limitations of the design.

According to the report, the device could do without some advanced features such as optical stabilization (OIS) or the sensor LiDARin order to maintain a thinner and lighter design. Still, the iPhone Fold is expected to offer a powerful photography suite, made up of four cameras: a traditional front one, the under-screen camera for when it is deployed, and two main rear cameras of approximately 48 MP each, where we could see that LiDAR or other components.

Recreation of an all-screen iPhone

Regarding its arrival on the market, it is speculated that Apple could launch the iPhone Fold in the fall of 2026although some analysts believe that it could be delayed until 2027 if the company continues to refine details such as the hinge system and the durability of the flexible panel, so nothing is confirmed, as was initially believed, and it will not come out alongside the iPhone 18 (or yes, who knows).

In summary, the iPhone Fold aims to be one of Apple's most interesting bets in years. Its high-resolution under-screen camera would create the perfect phone in terms of dimensions and screen, since there would be nothing that would bother it, it would be large, light, and complete, although we would also see this reflected in the price, since it is not expected to be economical, and could exceed 2,000 euros easily.

And you, do you think that this change will achieve more sales despite the increase in costs and the worse possible capture quality? Or, on the contrary, would it have been better to add a dynamic island to avoid this? The truth is that, being small, I personally don't mind the island, but there are tastes for everything, and Apple is committed to being the best in this aspect.
