The Californian company has a category of “obsolete products” who no longer receive technical support. Once a device enters this list, Apple stops offering any type of repair or service, marking the definitive end of its life cycle. Well, there is a new device that has just entered this select list.

This is the Apple Watch Series 4, a device that marked a before and after in the design of Apple smart watches.

The Apple Watch Series 4 comes to an end

Officially, it has been added to the company’s list of obsolete products, which means that from now on it will not receive technical support, beyond the parts that are available, so its final farewell is coming.

Apple classifies as “vintage” or obsolete those devices that stopped being sold more than five years ago. Although you can still receive repairs at Apple Stores and authorized suppliers, these are subject to the existence of parts in stock. In this case, the aluminum and stainless steel models of the Apple Watch Series 4, both in the 40 mm and 44 mm versions, have been included in this list worldwide.

Launched in 2018, the Apple Watch Series 4 marked a milestone with an innovative design. It featured a slimmer case and a 30% larger screen than its predecessors, offering a completely renewed visual and functional experience. These features, combined with advanced health functions such as the electrocardiogram, made the Series 4 an iconic model and very popular among users.

However, with the arrival of watchOS 11, the Series 4 stopped updatingwhich indicated that its life cycle was coming to an end. Along with this model, the Apple Watch Series 5 and the first generation of the Apple Watch SE also stopped receiving support for new versions of the operating system.

The Apple Watch Series 4 not only stood out for its design, but also for its advances in health monitoring. It was the first Apple Watch to include an ECG sensorcapable of detecting irregular heart rhythms, and offering alerts for falls, a function that has saved lives since its launch. These features laid the foundation for subsequent models, consolidating the Apple Watch as a leader in the wearables market.

In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, another iconic device has been added to the list of vintage products: the latest model of the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Released in May 2019, this laptop was quickly replaced by the 16-inch MacBook Pro in November of the same year, marking the end of an era for the 15-inch version.

If you’re still using an Apple Watch Series 4, you don’t have to worry. Although it will no longer receive software updates, it will still be functional for many of your common tasks. However, if you need to repair it, we recommend acting soon, as parts availability may be very limited over time.
