The information was leaked this morning, it is now official. The Mac mini 2024 is here, boosted with the M4 or M4 Pro chip, as revealed in the comparative photos from Amazon revealed by mistake.
The Mac mini is therefore the first Apple desktop computer equipped with the M4 Pro chip which can therefore integrate up to 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores. The RAM can go up to 64 GB and the storage up to 8 TB.
The Mac mini M4 therefore consists of a CPU 1.8 times faster and a GPU 2.2 times faster than the M1 version. Enough to make the Mac mini a formidable machine in an ultra-compact format.
More mini than ever
Because the originality of this new generation lies in its design. Apple is reducing the dimensions of its Mac mini more than everwhich looks like a Mac Studio that was eaten by an Apple TV. The case, made of 80% recycled materials, takes the shape of a square with a side of 5” or 12.7 cm with a height of 5 cm. Small but strong.
“The new Mac mini delivers gigantic performance in an incredibly compact design thanks to the power efficiency of Apple Silicon and an innovative new thermal architecture,” says John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering. And to add:
“Combined with the performance of the M4 chip and new M4 Pro, improved front and rear connectivity, and the arrival of Apple Intelligence, Mac mini is more capable and versatile than ever, and there is nothing like it.”
Apple indeed integrates extremely rich connectivity with regard to its format. In addition to the two USB 3 ports and the 3.5 mm jack on the front, there are three Thunderbolt 4 or 5 ports (depending on the M4 or M4 Pro versions), alongside HDMI, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port and power. The Mac mini is WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 compatible.
Mac mini M4/M4 Pro pricing and availability
You might imagine that the price of this Mac mini would soar: this is not the case. Apple even offers a barely believable quality-price ratio. The M4 version with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is in fact offered from 699 euros. To this you will need to add the keyboard and mouse if you are not already equipped.
Apple is less generous with the M4 Pro version, offered at 1,649 euros with 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. As always, custom configurations drive the price up significantly.
All versions are already available for pre-order for delivery scheduled for November 8.
