While Apple released its new iPhones in September, Samsung will lift the veil on its next flagships in early 2025. For the moment, the Korean giant has not yet announced the date of its next Unpacked conference, during which it will raise the veil on the Galaxy S25 series. However, according to a recent publication by the X account (former Twitter) “@sondesix”, which is cited by Android Authority, this presentation could take place on January 22, 2025, in California.
In addition to having published this date, this source also mentions the announcements that will be made during the Unpacked event. Obviously, Samsung will present its new high-end smartphones: the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. But in addition to the announcement of these smartphones, the Korean giant would also tease its “Moohan” project.
As a reminder, Samsung is collaborating with Google and Qualcomm on a mixed reality product. Recently, Google formalized its Android XR platform for virtual reality and augmented reality. As for Samsung, it revealed the design of its Moohan mixed reality headset, which presents itself as a competitor to the Vision Pro, and which will be the first device to use Android XR. It would be logical for Samsung to take advantage of its most important event of the year to give some additional information on this mixed reality headset, while waiting for the release date.
Galaxy S25: AI and performance?
In 2024, Samsung’s strategy in the high-end segment focused on artificial intelligence. The Korean giant offers a series of features based on artificial intelligence, called Galaxy AI, which has attracted millions of consumers. And normally, the firm should continue this strategy in 2025, by offering new AI features on the Galaxy S25 series.
But it’s also highly likely that at least some models in the Galaxy S25 series will use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Based on Oryon technology and engraved in 3 nm, this chip will allow a large number of high-end Android smartphones to benefit from exceptional performance.
Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has a 45% more efficient CPU, with a 44% improvement in power efficiency. It also has a GPU that is 40% more efficient, with an energy efficiency gain of 40%.
