Gurman provides additional information about the HomeAccessory. Apparently, the screen would be fixed on a rounded base using a mechanical arm. A design that moves away from that mentioned in recent years.

HomeAccessory: Apple’s connected home should expand in 2025

Gurman confirms it once again, Apple will release a new product in 2025. According to him, it would be a kind of HomePod with a screen on the front. A device in the homeOS ecosystem that would further strengthen the brand’s presence in homes.

Concerning the screen, the idea of seeing an iPad attached to a HomePod no longer seems up to date. From now on, we are talking about a smaller square format screen, whose display surface would be equivalent to two paired iPhones. It would allow you to manage audio content, but also to interact with applications like FaceTime thanks to the integrated camera, Calendar, Notes, etc. In addition, it would serve as an AirPlay receiver.

The presence of the A18 is essential, because it should without much suspense be Apple Intelligence compatible, unlike the current HomePods which have to contend with a somewhat sleepy Siri. Even though it’s the very first model, Gurman thinks the price will remain attractive, at least based on Apple’s definition of “attractive.” In other words, not that affordable.

An inclined and modular screen on a fixed rounded support

After having summarized what we already know, it’s time for the real news of the day. The Bloomberg journalist indicates that the screen would ultimately be tilted, modular and fixed on a fixed base. Better yet, the support would be rounded, strangely reminiscent of that of the iMac G4, released in 2002, 22 years ago. Its modular arm would allow the screen to be positioned at different angles.

Despite Gurman’s insistence on this project, let’s remain cautious. Although it really seems to exist, we are not safe from Apple ending up canceling its release. Given the rumors, it is difficult at the moment to find any real interest in it on a daily basis. Let’s hope that Apple surprises us in a good way.
