The Honor 200 Lite is a mid-range 5G smartphone that combines style and performance. Far from aiming for the top of the basket with this model, Honor intends to offer a functional and affordable solution for everyday uses. Indeed, the smartphone benefits from convincing characteristics, for a relatively low price of 329.90 euros.

Let’s see in more detail what this model has in its belly. For your information, we are only sharing our first impressions with you to help you determine if this model can possibly meet your expectations. This is therefore in no way a complete test, which will arrive soon.

A neat design and a comfortable grip

The Honor 200 Lite sports a particularly neat design for a smartphone in its price range. Its finishes are neat, and its rounded edges add a welcome touch of modernity. In addition to this, the phone benefits from a very comfortable grip, since it is possible to use it easily with one hand. We also note the presence of a pill-shaped notch, the Magic Capsule, in which the front camera is housed. The latter, directly inspired by the Dynamic Island of the iPhone, gives it an appearance almost worthy of a premium smartphone, while displaying some contextual information. Concretely, the look of the Honor 200 Lite is a success. In addition to this, it is possible to choose from the three available colors, in order to find the version that best suits your preferences: black, blue or cyan.

Both light and thin, with only 6.78 mm thickness and a weight of 166 grams, this model offers a pleasant grip without compromising its solidity. In this regard, the smartphone has a high-quality plastic housing, which seems designed to withstand the hazards of daily life. In fact, the smartphone obtained the maximum score (5/5) in tests by the Swiss SGS laboratory, which certifies its resistance to drops of up to 1.5 meters.

Remarkable display quality

The Honor 200 Lite also benefits from a very good screen for a mid-range smartphone. The model actually has a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel, offering FHD+ definition (1080 x 2412 pixels), as well as bright and varied colors thanks to its full reproduction of the DCI-P3 color space.

Although Honor does not explicitly specify the screen refresh rate of this model, we can assume that it is 90 Hz, based in particular on the Honor X50i+, its equivalent in China. Either way, the fluidity is there on this screen. The Honor 200 Lite’s screen also has another big advantage: its impressive brightness, which can go up to 1200 nits, and even up to 2000 nits in direct sunlight. This guarantees optimal readability in direct sunlight.

If it is fully suitable for outdoor use, the smartphone is just as suitable in low light situations. Indeed, Honor has integrated technologies that aim to reduce eye fatigue, in particular by limiting the emission of blue light, but also the flickering phenomenon thanks to its high-frequency 3240 Hz PWM frading system (TÜV Rheinland certification at ‘support).

Performance adapted to daily use

Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor and backed by 8GB of RAM, as well as 8GB of virtual RAM, the Honor 200 Lite ensures lag-free operation under standard usage. We’re not going to lie, this is clearly not a model suitable for demanding uses such as intensive video games. However, when it comes to common tasks such as web browsing, checking emails, running applications or even streaming, the smartphone does not experience any notable latency. To quickly return to gaming, you will be able to play light games without problem, but the most resource-intensive titles will not run.

The smartphone also benefits from a generous storage capacity of 256 GB. This may even be a little too much for most users. However, you won’t run out of space to store your photos, videos and other files. Taking advantage of such substantial storage space on a device in this range is a pleasant surprise, knowing that most competing models offer 128 GB.

Autonomy is also one of the biggest assets of this model. Thanks to its 4500 mAh battery, the Honor 200 Lite can easily hold more than a day in typical useor even up to two days for the most reasonable users. Note that the battery is compatible with fast charging up to 35 W. Although lower than the standards of the brand’s high-end models, this power remains more than sufficient for efficient daily charging. What’s more, we perfectly understand that Honor had to make this compromise, given the price positioning of the device.

A well-made photo module

The Honor 200 Lite offers a rather interesting photo configuration for a mid-range smartphone, with its triple sensor on the back. In particular, it has a 108 Mpx main lensaccompanied by a 5 Mpx ultra wide-angle sensor and a 2 Mpx macro sensor. In practice, it is especially the 108 Mpx main module that impresses, offering detailed and color-accurate photos, whatever the surrounding light conditions. Furthermore, thanks to filters and effects, it is possible to easily personalize your shots in order to obtain more successful results. In particular, you can add a bokeh effect (artistic blur) in the background, to better highlight the main subject.

For selfies, the Honor 200 Lite is not far behind with its 50 Mpx sensor on the fronta surprising resolution for a model in this price range. The shots here are also of very good quality, and benefit from well-balanced colors. Additionally, the smartphone can capture good quality videos up to Full HD 1080p.

Verdict: excellent value for money

Honor continues to stand out in the mid-range smartphone market by offering models with excellent value for money, and the Honor 200 Lite is fully part of this dynamic. Despite fierce competition in this segment, it has managed to carve out a place of choice for itself with its well-balanced services.

The Honor 200 Lite does not seek to compete with the most powerful devices on the market, but rather to offer the right compromise between performance, reliability and price. It may therefore suit you if you are looking for a affordable and versatile smartphonewhich does not compromise on the essentials. Among its strong points, we note its appreciable autonomy, its quality AMOLED screen, its well-thought-out design, as well as its surprising photo component for a model in this category.
