Sometimes we receive messages On the part of a friend or relative, who later erase, leaving us with the doubt what he puts us. In addition, by mistake or voluntarily, we may also have eliminated a conversation That we want to recover, being several cases where, for one reason or another, we have lost a chat or message.

Today we are going to see the options (not miraculous) that we have to achieve this type of results, and recept, in the app, the messages, or at least know what they have eliminated. And, above all, that it does not happen to us again, being able to have a way to avoid it in the future.

Restore messages from a backup in ICloud

WhatsApp on iOS Make automatic copies in ICloud if you have that option activated. This is the most effective method if the message was deleted after the last copy. If it is something that has just happened, unfortunately it will not be included in it, so it would not help us much, but if we have eliminated a chat unintentionally, for example, we can restore it before the following copy is generated.

How to verify and restore:

  1. Open WhatsApp> Configuration> Chats> Chats support.
  2. Check the last support date.
  3. If prior to elimination, eliminates WhatsApp and installs it from the App Store.
  4. When configuring it, select “Restore Chats History” From Icloud.

*Only recover the messages included in the copy. What has been sent or received later cannot be recovered.

Do it with a previous backup on iTunes/Finder

You are likely to look for something previous, or want to select your copy manually, so you can resort to some that you already have previous on the computer, in a similar way.

  1. Connect your iPhone to the computer.
  2. Open iTunes (Old pc or mac) or Finder (recent macOS).
  3. Select your device and click “Restore backup”.
  4. Choose a copy made before the messages were deleted (you will have to have done it and have it previously).

Use professional recovery software

If you do not have a copy of ICloud and you do not see the notification of the message, you can resort to recovery software for iOS. These tools look for deleted messages within the storage of the iPhone.

Recommended options:

  • Dr.Fone – WhatsApp recovery for iOS
  • Imobie Phonerescue
  • Tenorshare Ultdata

They work by connecting the iPhone to the PC/Mac and scanning internal storage. They allow to see what data can be recovered, including WhatsApp messages, notes, contacts, etc. They are usually paid, but they have test versions that allow you to see if the messages can be recovered before buying, so that, in case of doing so, you know if it is worth it.

Use apps to see messages even if they are deleted

The best option, especially for the future, if you still do not have it, is to use an app that records all notifications, so, although the other person erases it a few seconds, it will be reflected in the history of this, who reads it instantly and keeps it, being very useful.

Recommended app: WAMR Message Recovery

Although it was initially popular in Android, WAMR is also available for iPhone With certain limitations. Works as follows:

  • Save the content of WhatsApp notifications.
  • It allows you to see text, images and voice notes if they have been notified before being deleted.
  • It does not require Jailbreak.

Advantages:

  • You can see messages deleted directly from the app.
  • Save images, audios or videos if they arrived as notification.

Limitations in iOS:

  • It does not directly access the WhatsApp data.
  • Just keep what comes by notifications (that is, if you did not have the active notification, nothing is kept).
  • The multimedia content is only stored if charged while you have an active connection.

Tips not to lose messages in the future

And finally, we are going to see a list of tips so that this does not happen to you again, since it is frustrating but at least it can be remedied for the following:

  • Activate daily automatic support: WhatsApp> Configuration> Chats> Backup> Automatic copy> daily. With this you can have the last copies of your messages, those of a few minutes ago will not appear, but at most you will lose a day of messages.
  • Export important chats: From a conversation, click on the name of contact> “Export chat.” You will get, without the need for a whole copy of WhatsApp, have that chat on your PC, hard drive, or even inside the iPhone, but as a backup, to have those chats whatever happens.
  • Activate full notifications So that apps like Wamr can work properly, since, as we said, they are in charge of reading what comes to you, before you do it, being able to save that message in case the sender deleted it.

If you have any other method or suggestion, you can leave us a comment to help us among all, as we said, there are no miraculous ways, especially for the security that WhatsApp and Apple implements, but at least we have options in some cases, and above all, for the future.
