Good news for users of Google’s Find My app. It’s a service that lets you track your Android device’s real-time location, based on its last GPS signal. And now, Google is updating its service so you can find people or share your location in real-time.
This way, Google’s Find My Device is no longer just for locating any device you’ve linked, but can now share your location with any of your contacts, or find people who have shared this option.
To do this, all you need to do is update the Find My Device app to version 3.1.277-4, which is now available on Google Play. Can’t install it? Be patient, as it should be available to everyone in a few days.

- The first thing you should do is open the Find My Device app on your phone or tablet.
- You’ll see a new tab called People, which is in beta. Click on it.
- The next step is to accept the permissions required to share your location. We recommend checking While the app is in use so you don’t have to grant permissions every time.
- Now, you’ll see a drop-down menu that lets you choose how long you want to share your location. You can choose for one hour, all day, or until you disable the feature (perfect for seniors or children).
- Finally, select the contacts you want to share your location with. You can also generate a link to share however you prefer.
Once you’ve followed the steps, those with access will be able to see your location in real-time, either by clicking on the link you shared or by opening Google Maps, which is the platform Google uses to share people’s locations on Find Me. It couldn’t be easier!
