AirDrop It is a service that Apple devices offer us, with which we can send files between different brand devices, without having to use the cloud or external services for this, being very convenient, effective, and, above all, fast.

In iOS 26.2we have seen new features in the system. This is common, since the company itself updates all its services to make them more effective, secure, and optimized, so now we will have a novelty that many will surely like.

New AirDrop in iOS 26.2

In iOS 26.2 Apple has touched on AirDrop in a very simple, but quite logical way. Basically they have fixed a situation that I'm sure has happened to more than one person: wanting to send a photo or a file to someone in front of you and realizing that you don't have them in your contacts.

Until now the solution was a bit tacky. Either you activated AirDrop for “Everyone” for a while, or you added the other person to the agenda even if you weren't looking forward to it. Previously, you could have everyone's vision on permanently, but for security reasons, it was removed some time ago, and it only works for 10 minutes. With this version, Apple has added something much more convenient: a temporary code.

It works as simple as that: you generate a code from the AirDrop settings, give it to the other person and that's it. For a while you can send things to each other via AirDrop without having to save each other as contacts. It's not forever, lasts up to 30 daysso it is not left open without control, but it is not just a few minutes, nor do you have to activate “Everyone”, so others would also see you.

This is good for very normal situations. A co-worker, someone from class, a friend of a friend… people with whom you want to share something specific, not put it in your agenda for life. Now you do it quickly and without thinking too much.

Additionally, you can See in the settings who you have shared that access with and remove it whenever you want. This way you don't have the feeling that AirDrop is left open to anyone without you knowing, even though they couldn't do much with that access either, just send you photos or files that you may not want.

In short, it is not a drastic change in the way we use the service, since, on the other hand, it is difficult for it to improve, due to its ease of use and effectiveness, so they are those little things that many ask for, and that we did not have, but that Apple listens and ends up providing us. Therefore, if you do not yet have iOS 26.2, and you think that this new feature will be useful to you, you can now update your iPhone. Of course, the other person should also do it, otherwise the system does not work.

And you, are you one of those who uses AirDrop? The truth is that if you come from Android, you may not miss it so much, since you don't know it, but once you try it, you don't know how you could have lived without this system, especially if you have an Apple ecosystem, with Mac, iPad, etc., to transfer files between them.
