All of us who come from an Android phone, when it comes to purchasing our iPhone for the first time, we start downloading the applications that we are used to. We don't like Apple Maps and we download Google Maps, we don't use Mail and we prefer our gmail app always, etc.

However, if you are one of those, like me, I have to tell you that you are doing it wrong, and although yes, either of the two apps gives you your emails and you may be more used to one than the other, there are pros and cons which make the native far superior, and you should get used to it soon.

Gmail or Mail on iPhone?

Well, as we said, the truth is that both work well, it is true that with Mail you can have Google, personal, Outlook, etc. accounts, that is, all in one, while Gmail only works for Google, however, if you only use that platform, then it would be very similar, however, not in everything.

The compatibility of both applications is not the same, and although Mail can sync more accuratelyGmail may have small errors, although it is not the main reason for my decision, since, in general, both usually work well.

If you have both, you can see for yourself. Without even entering them, go to Settings > Batteryand check the spending of both in the background. The native Apple app will barely appear, with a ridiculous consumption, while Gmail will have used much more, therefore, at the level of optimization and resource expenditure, Google loses, and by a lot, as well as the rest of the mail applications for iPhone.

Apple logo and Mail app

This happens with many others, as we said at the beginning, and the company's own applications are designed and adapted to iOSwhile those from external developers, even if they are a large company, do not, and, therefore, even though they work well, the resources and battery they will consume will be much greater. You can do the test with Google Maps and Apple Maps, and see in the same route and time, how one of them has a much higher consumptionand I won't need to tell you which one. However, here we could talk about functionalities or tastes, since they have different tools and maps, however, in email, both offer us the same thing, so if you have Gmail, you already know what I would recommend.

And you, are you one of those who uses Google applications despite having an iPhone, or have you already gotten used to Apple's own? The truth is that if you come from an Android like me, it may be difficult for you, but it is simply habit, and once you handle and control them, you will never want Google's again, this is always the case, and it will give you better autonomy and functionality on any iPhone model. Leave us a comment with your experiences, which ones you prefer, and if you have really noticed that Apple's ones are more fluid and have less consumption.
