The release of iOS 19, scheduled for September 2025might not be as impactful as expected. According to sources close to Apple, the company has decided to delay several of the most notable features of its next operating system, leaving them out of the initial version. These features would arrive later, with the iOS 19.4 update, scheduled for spring 2026.
This delay, which affects a higher number of functions than usual, has surprised many followers of the brand, who expected to see these advances in the initial launch of iOS 19.
iOS 19 Feature Delay
The decision seems to be aligned with what happened this year, when Apple already delayed some key features of iOS 18, such as Apple Intelligence, which arrived a month later with the iOS 18.1 update. However, not all of the features announced at WWDC24 are available to users so far, leaving questions about the company’s timeline.
According to Mark Gurman, a renowned Bloomberg journalist, Apple seems to follow a strategy similar to that of iOS 18 for the launch of iOS 19. Among the functions that will suffer this delay is Siri powered by the language modelwhich promised a much more fluid and natural conversation experience. This improvement, which was originally planned for the first version of iOS 19, is now expected for the release of iOS 19.4 in 2026.
The feature delay has raised concerns among users in iOS 18, and the same will happen in iOS 19, especially those eagerly waiting to see the promised improvements to Siri’s artificial intelligence and app control. Despite the delay, it has been confirmed that some aspects of the future 2025 version, such as artificial intelligence integration and other minor improvements, will be available in the initial release in September 2025.
Is the delay part of an Apple strategy?
This type of feature delay is nothing new for Apple, as the exact same thing has happened with iOs 18. In the first version, the company already delayed several key functions based on artificial intelligence, not to mention that we didn’t see any trace of themwhich affected features like Visual Intelligence and the ChatGPT integration into Siri. Additionally, with the launch of the iPhone 16, many users realized that some of the most powerful features announced were not yet available, which caused some disappointment among the brand’s most enthusiastic fans.
Apple has hyped its new features with great enthusiasm at its WWDC presentations in June, but sometimes the reality hasn’t lived up to the hype. The first Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18 are arriving with iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2the version that we will see in December and this is a problem. In Spain, for example, we will not see anything until at least March 2025.
The delay of key functions could become more common in the coming years, especially if Apple follows the same line with iOS 19. With more than a year ahead until the official launch of this version, it is not ruled out that Apple decides to change the release timelines for these features or even modify your strategy to deal with delays. However, what is clear is that users will have to be patient while the company perfects the promised functionalities.
