Apple has already announced the date of WWDC25, the worldwide developers conference where the Californian company will unveil all the latest features related to its upcoming software updates for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other products. That’s when we’ll finally learn all the new features of iPadOS 19.
Until now, we knew that iOS 19 would get a major redesign with a VisionOS-inspired user interface that would incorporate translucent menus, glass effects, and more oval or rounded elements. We might even see a major change in the design of app icons. But what about iPadOS 19? What new features will come to the iPad?
New design
Just as we expect iOS 19 to receive a visionOS-inspired redesign, we also believe iPadOS 19 will introduce visual changes in that direction. Apple will rely on a user interface with menus featuring transparency and grayscale hues combined with icons, windows, and other elements with more rounded corners.
Menu bar
Everything seems to indicate that, while iOS 19 will seek to find a style similar to visionOS, iPadOS 19 will be closer to macOS 16. A strategic move by Apple to achieve greater cohesion and uniformity in its product ecosystem.
To do this, Apple could introduce a menu bar in iPadOS 19 similar to the one found in Mac software. Currently, the iPhone and iPad already have their own menu bar, known as the status bar, which displays indicators for battery percentage, connectivity, the time, and even symbols that warn you if an app is using your location or microphone.
With iPadOS 19, we’ll find a menu bar more similar to the Mac that would be activated when a Magic Keyboard is connected and perhaps, and this is my own theory, it could include shortcuts to battery settings, shortcuts to app functions, or even buttons to activate and deactivate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or 5G connectivity. Can you imagine clicking on the time and accessing the calendar?
New version of the Visual Organizer
Apple plans to improve the Stage Manager system with iPadOS 19. This window management system for iPad multitasking, which they say could also come to the iPhone, will have version 2.0 with new details that have not yet been revealed. Will there be visual changes or just a restructuring of the system?
Siri
Apple will be adding new visual intelligence features to Siri, which were originally planned to arrive with iPadOS 18 but were ultimately delayed. These Siri improvements will arrive in future software updates for iOS 19 and iPadOS 19.
- Siri is more dynamic and conversational.
- More context about what’s happening on screen.
- More actions in third-party applications
These are all the new features expected in iPadOS 19, the next major iPad update. But we’re sure Apple has many more surprises in store for its new version of the operating system, with more features designed to improve the user experience and configuration settings.
