When we look at the presentation of a new Android smartphone, manufacturers directly communicate the amount of GB of RAM or the battery capacity that is included in the new smartphone. However, at Apple, it is radio silence on these two characteristics with each announcement of new iPhones. If we recently learned that the iPhone 16 all have 8 GB of RAM (with a nice optimization on the iOS side), we learn today, less than 24 hours before the marketing of the iPhone 16, the battery capacities. Important information that had not been disclosed until this evening.
All iPhone 16 models get better battery life
The 5G modem, the OLED screen, the A18/A18 Pro chip… the iPhone 16 will be very energy-hungry and to cope with this need for additional autonomy, Apple has added more efficient batteries in the new iPhones. A recent report from iPhone Blog in Brazil reveals the battery capacities in the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
We find better batteries, but not yet to the point of bringing a real revolution in the overall autonomy that an iPhone user can have during the day.
Before revealing the mAh of each battery, it is interesting to make a little reminder about Apple’s promises in terms of autonomy. Here is what Apple mentions in the specifications of its new iPhone 16 (compared to what Apple announced for the iPhone 15 last year):
- The iPhone 16 gets 22 hours of video playback (+2 hours), 18 hours of video streaming (+2 hours) and 80 hours of local audio (same as iPhone 15)
- The iPhone 16 Plus gets 27 hours of video playback (+1 hour), 24 hours of video streaming (+2 hours) and 100 hours of local audio (same as iPhone 15 Plus)
- The iPhone 16 Pro gets 27 hours of video playback (+4 hours), 22 hours of video streaming (+2 hours) and 85 hours of local audio (+10 hours)
- The iPhone 16 Pro Max gets 33 hours of video playback (+4 hours), 29 hours of streaming video (+4 hours) and 105 hours of local audio (+10 hours)
In detail, here are the battery capacities:
- The iPhone 16 has a 3,561mAh battery
- The iPhone 16 Plus has a 4,674mAh battery
- The iPhone 16 Pro has a 3,582mAh battery
- The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4,685mAh battery
That’s slightly more than previous iPhones, but it’s still overall weaker compared to competing smartphones. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 5,060mAh battery.
