According to a leak reported by 9to5Mac on Thursday. If the fix turns out to be true, it should keep the iPhone 16 fresh, especially with the early news that Apple’s next flagship phone could be more expensive than the iPhone 15.

The leak comes from Kosutami, an Apple prototype collector who has managed to obtain models of future products in the past. According to the description, a heat sink could offer up to four times better thermal conductivity. The tipster claims that Apple’s latest iPhones will also switch the Pro series’ battery to a metal casing, which would also help mitigate overheating issues.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The iPhone 15 was one of the hottest phones this year—literally—as users reported their Apple products reaching temperatures of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Some iPhones even suffered from screen burn-in, an issue commonly reserved for older OLED displays, though it was resolved with an iOS 17 update.

Apple insists there are no hardware issues related to the iPhone 15’s 3nm processor or new titanium frame, and that the overheating problems were simply an easily fixable bug in iOS. The company initially told customers their phones were overheating due to intensive processing loads, but eventually admitted there were issues with Apple’s software.

According to reports from Nikkei Asia, the iPhone 16 could see a price increase over the already expensive iPhone 15. Production costs increased significantly for the iPhone 15, more than what was reflected in the phone’s price, and analysts speculate that Apple will pass those price increases on to consumers with the iPhone 16.
