Now that the iPhone 16 line is available almost worldwide, Apple can now focus on other launches and take it to the next level with its mid-range iPhone: the iPhone SE. As rumors have stated, a fourth generation of this more affordable iPhone will soon see the light of day, with the first shipments expected to take place early next year. However, what will the iPhone SE 4 bring? A photo of a leaking hull allows us to learn more.
The first iPhone SE 4 case?
Before each new iPhone launch, Apple takes a strategic approach by sharing information about design changes with accessories makers. This approach allows case manufacturers to prepare in advance, ensuring that their products are compatible with the new dimensions, locations for the rear camera and side buttons. These details are essential for a smooth launch of accessories simultaneously with the new iPhone.
Today, famous leaker Sonny Dickson published an image that appears to come from an Apple props partner. This is a case dedicated to the future iPhone SE 4 which reveals several aspects of the design.
The iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch early next year, could well resemble the iPhone 14, according to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. However, several major differences should be noted, particularly on the camera and buttons side.
A design inspired by the iPhone 14, with a few differences
Unlike high-end models, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a single rear camera rather than a dual module. There won’t be an ultra-wide sensor, but Apple plans to include a 48MP main sensor. The latter will offer two focal lengths: a 1x mode using the full capacity of the sensor (converted to 12MP) and a 2x mode zooming in on the central 12MP part of the 48MP sensor. A solution which (although more modest) could satisfy photography enthusiasts.
As for the buttons that will be available on the iPhone SE 4, we will find the emblematic button on the left side of the iPhone which will allow you to switch between ring mode and silent mode as well as the traditional button to lock your iPhone. However, unlike the iPhone 16, the iPhone SE 4 will not come with the Camera Control button or the Action button.
This leaked case confirms that the iPhone SE 4 won’t benefit from all the advanced features of the premium models, but that’s not without reason. Apple seeks to maintain a clear distinction between its high-end devices and more accessible models. While this iPhone SE 4 seems more limited in terms of photography and buttons, it remains an attractive option for those who want a modern version of the iPhone at a more affordable price.
On the other hand, this iPhone SE 4 will not be left behind when it comes to power. Rumors indicate that it will be equipped with the A18 chip (the same as that of the iPhone 16) which will allow it to benefit from the new Apple Intelligence features. Additionally, for the first time, the iPhone SE is expected to feature an OLED screen, a major advancement that will allow for more vibrant colors and deeper blacks.
