After more than 16 years in business, TouchArcade is officially shutting down due to ongoing financial difficulties. The site, which has been struggling with money issues for years, has refused to use intrusive ads and questionable sponsorships, which are unfortunately what generates revenue on the internet today.

Despite these challenges, TouchArcade continued to provide content to millions of people for years. But it couldn’t last. A blow for our friends Shaun Musgrave and Mikhail Madnani, who are now looking for new opportunities.

Yet another “Apple” site is closing

Launched the same year as your favorite site, TouchArcade was an English-language reference with lots of information and exclusive interviews about the best mobile games. Unlike iSoft, which loves video games but also Apple news in general, TouchArcade only dealt with mobile video games, expanding its scope quite recently to Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck titles.

While the website will no longer be updated regularly, all previously published content, including over 33,000 articles and 4,000 game reviews, will remain online for reference. TouchArcade also hopes to keep its long-running podcast, ” The TouchArcade Show ” The team is considering changing their Patreon support to focus on the podcast and occasional special articles or game reviews. In short, the two will do this only in their free time.

The moving message of Jared Nelson :

Also, as a man with a wife and two young kids, a mortgage and all the other fun adult stuff, this is the end of my livelihood, and while they are technically “freelancers” the same is true for the other two people who have been the beating heart of TouchArcade, Shaun Musgrave and Mikhail Madnani. Which brings me to my next point…

TouchArcade is not the first to go under. In the Apple universe, many sites have closed, such as MacPlus, iPodTouchIsAPro, MacNN, The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW), MacUser and Macworld UK.

For the record, TouchArcade was founded by Arnold Kim and Blake Patterson, with Eli Hodapp as its first full-time employee and eventual editor-in-chief. The site has welcomed dozens of contributors over the years, but ad blockers have taken their toll on one of the best addresses of its kind.

French-speaking players can rest assured that iPhoneSoft – its iSoft app – will continue to help you discover the latest features on the App Store and Play Store, as has been the case since 2008. And yes, from the beginning, our goal was to share our passion for mobile applications and games. Despite the difficulties, we are still here.
