New HomePod with screen

The new HomePod, which promises to compete directly with giants like Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show, will not just be a smart speaker. It will include an LCD screen that will allow users to manage their home automation, make video calls via FaceTime and control HomeKit compatible devices. According to rumors, the screen will have a design similar to a “square iPad” and will be able to display customizable widgets thanks to a new operating system called homeOS.

In addition to functioning as a control center for the home, this device could act as a security system by displaying images from connected cameras, thus integrating essential functions to protect the home. The base will include a high-quality speaker that will make this HomePod not only functional but also a great companion for listening to music.

Although Apple has not officially revealed the price of the device, it seems that it is looking to make it more affordable than other products in its catalog. According to DigiTimes, Apple has chosen Tianma, a Chinese manufacturer, to produce the HomePod LCD screens for just $10 each, an “exceptionally competitive” price. This suggests that the device could be in a similar price range to the Google Nest Hub, which ranges between 150 and 400 euros.

The new HomePod will not be the only product with which Apple will seek to strengthen its presence in the smart home. According to analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman, the company is also working on a wireless security camera which will integrate perfectly with this hub and other devices in the Apple ecosystem.

In addition, Apple could take the opportunity to launch a new version of the HomePod mini in 2025, reinforcing its catalog of smart speakers with options for different budgets.

What will the HomePod with a screen be like?

The device will be compatible with Apple Intelligencethe platform that Apple is developing to compete with other assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, but with greater emphasis on privacy. It will also have an integrated camera, which will allow you to make video calls and improve interaction with Siri.
