Following the success of the Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen), Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi Box 5 and Xiaomi Box 5 Max, two new models that stand out for having up to 4GB of RAM, support for playing 4K content, and WiFi 6 connectivity. All of this under HyperOS and Google TV to be able to access countless applications and games.

Both models feature a new processor, a quad-core Cortex-A55 powered by a Mali-G310 V2 GPU capable of delivering great pre-production performance for HD content and gaming. Additionally, the Xiaomi Box 5 has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the Xiaomi Box 5 Max has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Another new feature of the Xiaomi Box 5 and Xiaomi Box 5 Max is support for playing video in 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. They also feature a new video engine capable of improving the resolution of FHD and HD videos, supporting Dolby Vision and DTS: X audio technologies, as well as 7.1.4 audio transfer for surround sound.

Another attraction of these new models is their Bluetooth remote control. In addition to supporting voice commands and dedicated buttons, this remote control also features NFC so you can quickly and easily stream content to your connected TV.

Beyond that, the Xiaomi Box 5 and Xiaomi Box 5 Max boast Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.1, and USB 2.0. They also feature HyperOS 2 as a customization layer that lets you access a multitude of apps and games.

Price and availability

The new Xiaomi Box 5 and Xiaomi Box 5 Max are now on sale in China and are expected to be available in other markets very soon. The Xiaomi Box 5 is priced at 299 yuan, about 37 euros, while the Xiaomi Box 5 Max is priced at 499 yuan, about 62 euros.
