After the excellent GRID which has held the top of the mobile market since 2017, Feral Interactive had the agreement to Codemasters to tackle GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition. Already available on Mac since last year, GRID Legends arrives on iPhone and iPad, the opportunity to establish its domination with a clever mix between arcade and simulation. Here is our opinion in a flash test!
What is GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition?
Yes, the game from the studio belonging to EA is a racing game which offers gameplay halfway between arcade and simulation, while offering here its Deluxe version including all the DLC for a complete experience. Initially launched in 2022 on PS4 and Xbox One, then on the Mac App Store, this mobile version allows you to play on devices like the iPhone 12 Pro or iPad Air M1 minimum. Other devices are not supported.
The controls are adapted to touch and tilt (via the gyroscope), both of which require some getting used to. For those who prefer, GRID Legends also supports MFi and console controllers.
From a content point of view, you have the choice between 10 different disciplines with a wide range of vehicles ranging from GT prototypes and Hypercars to Trucks and Open-Wheels. In total, 130 circuits await you.
The “Road to Glory” narrative mode adds a cinematic dimension, while Career Mode and Race Creator allow for deep customization. With all the DLC included, like “Classic Car-Nage”, “Drift”, and “Endurance”, GRID Legends is a very good investment, especially since it only costs 12 euros.

Our opinion on GRID Legends
Magnificent, GRID is when you activate all the options, but the title carried by Feral Interactive then runs in 30 fps. We can go up to 40-50 by lowering the level of detail a little, but we’re still far from 120 frames per second, which is all the more unfortunate as the resolution leaves something to be desired on the big screen.
To maximize the visual experience, an HD texture pack is available for devices with at least 8 GB of RAM, i.e. the latest iPad Pro and iPhone Pro.
Plastic is not everything, and the careful gameplay quickly makes you forget these little inconveniences. Getting started is quick, while offering an interesting learning curve. The developers’ choice to allow behavior to be influenced via personalization is certainly not unrelated. As is often the case, the iPad + controller combo is the best, but there is something for everyone with the different possible options.
Still, fans of Gran Turismo or Forza will probably be frustrated with the behavior of the cars when we push them to the physical limits, but the angle chosen makes it possible to reach a wider audience.
The result is good, very good even, as long as we know where we are going with this new opus from the creators of the DIRT and F1 sagas. The only real downside is the lack of multiplayer. Hopefully an update brings it soon.
