PlayStation is responding to an important demand from its community. More than four years after the release of the PS5, it is finally possible to own the entire ecosystem exclusively in black. Good news for players who aren’t really fans of white.
A 100% Midnight Black ecosystem in 2025
Sony comes to announce the release of the Midnight Black collection, a new range of colors for its PS5 accessories. This collection will include deep black versions of the PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge controller, Pulse Elite headset, and Pulse Explore headphones.
Each accessory in the Midnight Black collection features rich black with sleek details on buttons and accents, like the PlayStation logo. Unlike the console, no two-tone here, black and nothing but black. The collection complements PS5 accessories already available in Midnight Black, such as the DualSense controller and console faceplates.
Unlike previous generations, the PS5 launched with white as the official color. Same for the PS5 Pro. Now the entire ecosystem will also be available in black. This is great news for purists as well as those who prefer black to white for their PlayStation gear.
The collection is scheduled to release on February 20, 2025, with pre-orders opening on January 16, 2025. Accessory prices will be aligned with existing white models, at no additional cost, unlike Apple which always charges more for black devices.
