The technology world already suspects that at least one new Samsung smartwatch called the Galaxy Watch 8 will be released in 2025. Now, hints of various models have surfaced.
The technology world and fans of South Korean manufacturer Samsung’s products are eagerly awaiting the company’s new smartwatch, which is rumored to be called the Galaxy Watch 8. Now, new information about the soon-to-be-anticipated smartwatches has surfaced, hinting at several models.
As leaker Theordysm reports in a post on X (formerly Twitter), firmware versions for two models of the Galaxy Watch 8 have now surfaced – in Bluetooth and LTE variants. This means that there could be another smartwatch in addition to the already suspected Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
New firmware: Also for a Galaxy Watch 8
In the information shared by the leaker, in addition to the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, for which the software versions “SM-L505U” and “SM-L500” are said to be intended, a Galaxy Watch 8 also appears. Based on its name alone, this would be the direct successor to the current Galaxy Watch 7. A software version with the designation “U0AYC4” (for the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi versions, respectively) and “U0AYC6” (for the LTE variant) is said to have been discovered for it.
There are already “hot rumors” about the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, which would be Samsung’s first classic smartwatch since the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Among other things, there is speculation that it could bring back a popular control element.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 (Classic) could be released in summer 2025
Whether there will ultimately be a Galaxy Watch 8 and a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic can only be clarified with an official confirmation from Samsung. Currently, many sources assume that Samsung will announce one or more new smartwatches in summer 2025 – in addition to the new folding smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
At the same time, the first hints of the upcoming Samsung operating system One UI 8, which is based on Google’s Android 16, have already surfaced. According to the report, the new software is already running on a currently available smartphone from the manufacturer and points to a promising improvement that Samsung devices could receive in the future.
