An exciting Apple original series

If you haven’t yet seen the series Severance on Apple TV+, it talks about an intriguing and disturbing concept of separation between professional and personal life. Imagine a world where your memory is split into two distinct entities: one that only knows work and the other that only lives for the moments outside of it. In this series, employees of Lumon Industries undergo a procedure called “Severance” which separates their work memories from their personal memories. The result is a torn existence, where workers remember nothing of their lives outside the office, and vice versa.

This dichotomy creates an atmosphere of mystery and tension, where each character struggles to understand and navigate the implications of this radical division. The plots are woven around deep themes such as identity, freedom of choice and the limits of corporate ethics. The series explores the consequences of this separation on the psychology of individuals and questions the value we place on our professional versus personal lives. It’s a dark and fascinating reflection on how corporations might one day manipulate our reality for the sake of productivity and control.
