You know since September 9, the Apple Watch Series 10 presents a new design. Without being as spectacular as some had expected, the new Series 10 is thinner and has an ever larger screen. The rest has not really changed, apart from the wide-angle OLED screen. To find out, iFixit published a teardown video that offers a detailed look at the interior.

The experts’ disassembly reveals that the Apple Watch 10 remains a very compact technological object, but that its complex design makes its disassembly and repair difficult. Accessing the internal components requires heating the screen in order to remove it due to the tight fit between the glass and the metal frame – only 0.176 millimeters. This construction is not made to annoy repairers, but to reinforce the water resistance of the watch.
The iFixit video notably highlights the 1,266 Wh battery of the 46 mm version, whose capacity is similar to that of previous models. The battery is attached using simple adhesive, making it relatively easy to replace compared to other components. However, accessing other parts, like the Taptic Engine and sensors, requires removing numerous connectors and screws, all very small. iFixit also looked at the OLED display, and found that while Apple claims improved viewing angles, the structure of the screen remains quite similar to previous models. Apple did not use an innovative technique, it simply integrated a panel with a better viewing angle, while reducing the surrounding borders.
Despite its lighter profile, iFixit awarded the Series 10 a low repairability rating of 3 out of 10 due to the difficulty of accessing and replacing parts.
