The studio’s Watcher of Realms tactical RPG Moonton introduces a new hero, Kigiri the Undying Ronin, as part of the event Black Blade Chronicles. This samurai-themed character will be available for a limited time and will be joined by new mage Xaris the Soulflayer. The opportunity to (re)discover this interesting opus in more than one way.

Watcher of Realms welcomes a samurai

Kigiri, a rebellious samurai, is the only survivor of the castle he once defended. Driven by vengeance against those who destroyed his homeland, his story unfolds in the Chronicles of the Black Blade, October 17-21. During this event, players will have the opportunity to participate in guaranteed draws and ranking events. The Story of Kigiri continues until October 27 as part of its Story Event.

For fans, Xaris the Soulflayer, a cunning and manipulative mage, also joins the roster. He will be the subject of his own limited-time summoning event starting October 18, and Lucius and Razaak will receive reinforcements at the same time as him.

While some heroes in the game, like the recently re-released Lust, have a quirky style, Kigiri brings a more serious tone. Given the popularity of samurai-themed characters, Kigiri has every chance of becoming a fan favorite.

Our opinion on Watcher of Realms

For those who missed its release in 2023, know that Watcher of Realms has won over players thanks to a clever mix of classic inspirations and modernity.

Concretely, Watcher of Realms (WoR) is a tower defense (TD) captivating with Diablo-type gothic accents. Developed by Moonton, the creators of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, WoR is set in a fantasy world, offering a mix of RPG elements and tactical defense mechanics, with over 100 characters to choose from, allowing for a variety of styles game.

The core of the game involves defending the Soul Core from waves of enemies by strategically placing heroes, each with unique abilities, on different points on the map. The game’s gothic aesthetic and action-packed levels create an immersive experience, although the narrative, which involves the character’s amnesia and quest for identity, is quite dull.

Although Watcher of Realms introduces players to its mechanics well, the lengthy tutorial can seem excessive, especially for experienced TD players. The game’s linear campaign provides enough challenge, with side quests and seasonal missions breaking up the pace. However, the game’s real appeal lies in its gacha mechanics: players collect resources to summon and upgrade characters, although the frequent push for in-app purchases is sometimes frustrating. However, these are far from obligatory.

On a visual level, Watcher of Realms impresses with its animations and detailed character design, reminiscent of the best of the genre like Diablo. Despite some criticism, particularly regarding the business model, the game’s solid gameplay and immersive atmosphere make it one of the best titles in the genre currently. It is available on iOS and Android.
