Available only in English since April 2024, Spotify’s audiobook service is now launching in Europe and France. An official announcement made live during an event organized today by Spotify in Paris.
Audio playback: an increasingly popular practice
On this Monday, October 14, 2024, Spotify announces the launch of its audiobook service in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. A library of audio books which currently contains more than 15,000 references now available in French.
Users Freemium can now purchase audiobooks à la carte on the platform. For subscribers Premiumthey benefit from 12 hours of listening included per month in the paid subscription. Additional hours can be purchased additionally, at a cost of €9.99 for 10 additional hours.
Of the 626 million monthly users worldwide, 28% are in Europe. It is therefore normal for Spotify to fully launch into this market after a first full-scale test of the English-speaking market. After music and podcasts, Apple Music’s direct competitor hopes to retain its customers even more by adding a new way of entertainment.
