The films of the 80s marked an entire generation with cult films. In addition to the iconic Scarface, Back to the Future, Star Wars, ET, Terminator and Dune, this period was very prolific in the “horror for young people” genre with the Goonies or Gremlins, in particular. After the homage to this period of the Strangers Things series, here is its video game counterpart by Frosty Pop: The Get Out Kids.
Discover The Get Out Kids
Apple Arcade hit The Get Out Kids is now available on the App Store for FREE. NO ADVERTISING. NO IAP.
A former Apple Arcade exclusive, The Get Out Kids follows best friends Molly and Salim when their attempt to sneak away to see Ghostblasters at the drive-in theater goes awry. Now they must explore a variety of spooky locations and solve puzzles to find Molly’s lost dog, Moses. Enough to link the two characters with an unwavering friendship, at the risk of their lives.
When Moses disappears under shady circumstances, Molly and Salim embark on a rescue mission that will test their friendship and change their lives forever.
It’s not the story of the year, far from it, but The Get Out Kids stands out with many interesting mechanics, the action taking place in 3D dioramas. A narrative experience in puzzle form, The Get Out Kids also includes seven arcade-inspired mini-games to amp up the retro vibes. And the best part is that this game is absolutely free! The game is completely free!
Our opinion on The Get Out Kids
Get Out Kids won us over on Apple Arcade with an engaging interactive story and style. Its mini-games, its “hidden objects” part and its dialogues hit the mark, special mention to Salim and his stuttering. However, everything is not perfect, the gameplay is sometimes frustrating, with the need to try again several times. It’s frustrating, but that’s also the charm of games from this era, a difficulty that we don’t really know anymore these days.
A great price
Since the series Stranger Things, the children’s horror style of the 80s has returned to the forefront, whether in the cinema or in video games. It is exactly this wave that The Get Out Kids has been riding since 2019. First on Apple Arcade, the game is now accessible to everyone on the App Store, allowing you to discover its inimitable style at a great price. In fact, the game is FREE!
Please note, it is not yet launched in all countries, some, like France, will have to wait until the end of October. In the meantime, pre-order it!
