China sweeps away the iPhone 16
Vlad Savov, a fairly important journalist, commented on several points that we must take into account about the sales data of the iPhone 16 in this country, which greatly surprises the rest of the world.
The sales of Apple Inc.’s newest iPhones in China are up 20% in their first three weeks compared to the 2023 model, a positive sign for a device that struggled this year to gain traction in the world’s largest smartphone market.
The iPhone 16 debuted in September and has outperformed its predecessor so far, according to Counterpoint Research data provided to Bloomberg News. Consumers continue to shift to more expensive models, with sales of the top-end Pro and Pro Max models gaining 44% compared to last year’s equivalents.
And an increase like this translates into many billions, and not only in devices, but in everything that entails, from subscriptions to Apple TV, to space in iCloud or purchasing apps in the App Store.
Tim Cook mentioned that the company was working with local regulators in both China and the EU.However, this does not guarantee that they will have it soon, and, for my part, at least, I am waiting for something official, because otherwise, my goal would be the iPhone 17, not this one.
In short, there is no logic that tells us why Asians love this model, maybe they know something that we don’t, or they simply think that they will be able to use AI in some way, so hopefully that is the case and we will all have it available soon. The one that is surely happy is Apple, because in a market full of very cheap national brands, the fact that Apple is beginning to stand out is something very positive, and that may make Tim Cook and company try, by more means, for China to be part from countries without prohibitions on your brand.
Any contrary news, which confirms, for much longer, the ban of Apple Intelligence, could change the course of these sales, so we will have to be attentive to everything that happens in the remainder of the year, and give a better analysis to principles of the next.
