Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its captivating new 10-part nature docuseries, “The Secret Life of Animals,” set to launch on December 18. The series is narrated by the prestigious SAG Award winner Hugh Bonneville, known for his roles in “Paddington” and “Downton Abbey.” It explores the lives of 77 different species in 24 countries, showcasing unique and never-before-seen animal behaviors over a three-year period, brought to life by the prestigious Natural History Unit at BBC Studios.

This Apple docuseries uses cutting-edge technology to capture extraordinary moments from the animal kingdom, including:

  • The complex courtship dance of jumping spiders, accompanied by unique sounds and vibrations.
  • A killifish in Trinidad that uses its tail to breathe out of water.
  • A wood mouse strategically marking its territory with signage.

Episodes explore important stages in the lives of various creatures, illustrating their intelligence and adaptability through scenes of birth, migration, family life, foraging and aging. Standout moments include the unexpected relationship between a frog and a tarantula, a land lizard capable of breathing underwater, and the peculiar test of friendship of a monkey who sticks its nose in water.

“The Secret Lives of Animals” is an Apple TV+ production in collaboration with the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, with Matt Brandon, known for “Planet Earth III”, as showrunner, and Roger Webb, who worked on “Mammals” and “Big Cats 24/7,” as executive producer. This project marks the third partnership between these two entities, following the success of “Prehistoric Planet” and “The Year Earth Changed”, both nominated for Emmy Awards.
