We have been dreaming for many years of a iPhone all screena, without anything in it, no notch, no dynamic island, not even cameras, but it is something that Apple has not managed to build. At least for now. And in 2026, things could finally change.
Rumors indicate that the prototypes of The iPhone 18 Pro would not have the Face ID holebut it would go under the screen, which means that it would not take up space on the front of the phone, and the visual dimensions we would have would be greater.
An iPhone with an all-screen?
These days an alleged leak is circulating on the networks, by the Digital Chat Station account, on Weibo, of the iPhone 18 Pro and, honestly, it is one of the most exciting things even though there is still a lot of time left. The main idea is very simple: Apple would be working on an iPhone with a much cleaner front than the current one.
The most striking thing is the Face ID issue. According to what is said, the sensors would finally go under the screen. That means there would be neither a notch nor a permanent island above. The screen would occupy practically the entire front and, at first glance, it would look like an “all-screen” mobile.
That does not mean that the Dynamic Island disappears completely. The idea discussed is that it could appear only when necessary, for example with calls, music or notifications, and then disappear. It would not always be visible like now, which in the end is already part of the design.
Apparently, this change would be reserved for Pro modelsthe regular iPhone 18 Pro and the Pro Max. The rest of the models would continue more or less as they are now, with their island at the top and without major changes to the front.
If this turns out to be true, it would be one of the most visible changes to an iPhone in many years. Not because they add a new function, but because visually it would be very different from what we have been seeing for several generations.
Of course, it is advisable to take it calmly. Apple has been testing things like this for years and they don't always arrive when they are rumored. We may see it as is, it may arrive halfway, or it may be delayed for another generation.
Still, the leak makes sense. Apple has always been gradually removing elements from the front, and hide Face ID under the screen seems like the next logical step. If they manage to do it well and without failure, it would be a fairly important change. If not, they will surely leave it for the iPhone 20, since it would arrive on Apple's twentieth anniversary, and there they will want to offer something different and striking, as happened with the iPhone X, so there wouldn't be much left anyway.
For now it remains a rumor, but one of those that fits and doesn't sound crazy. It will be necessary to see if in a few months it begins to be repeated more or if it remains just an idea that circulated on the internet. The prototypes of the following models arrive months before, so there shouldn't be much left to learn more.
