You may have one, or you may have simply never decided to purchase this version, but we all know the MacBook Prothe top of the range of laptops from the apple brand, and, although it seems like it was yesterday when they launched the first one, they are already 20 years.
Today, we will review that trajectory, and see its progress in two decades. Maybe, as we said, you haven't had one, and you prefer the Air version, due to economy, or simply weight, autonomy, etc., but we have all seen a Pro model at some point.
Two decades of MacBook Pro
It's a little hard to believe, but the MacBook Pro is already 20 years old. Appeared in 2006 (January 10) and, although now we see it as something totally normal, at the time it was an important change within Apple. It was the “serious” laptop, the one that was supposed to be used by those who worked on the computer all day, not just to browse or write four things.
The first model does not have much to do with those of today. It was quite big, quite heavy and inside it had Intel processors, which at that time was logical. Even so, it already marked some ideas that have been maintained: good screen, careful materials and the feeling that it was a machine designed to last.
Over the years the MacBook Pro has changed a lot. There were stages that almost everyone remembers, like when the aluminum unibody design or when Apple bet heavily on Retina screens. There were also more controversial times, with decisions that not everyone liked, such as the butterfly keyboard or Touch Barwhich some used and others never fully understood.
Probably the biggest change came when Apple left Intel and started using its own chips. There the MacBook Pro once again took an important leap. More power, less noise, much more battery and a general feeling that the laptop was once again one step ahead. For many people it was like completely trusting the range again. It would also happen with the Air versions.
The curious thing is that, After 20 years, the MacBook Pro is still a benchmark. It is not perfect by any means, but it is still in studios, offices, universities and the homes of people who use it daily to work. Not many technological products can say the same after so much time.
Now there is talk about what the next models will be like, whether the design will change again, new screens or functions. But, regardless of what happens, these 20 years make it clear that the MacBook Pro is not just another laptop, but one of those products that have accompanied several generations of users without us almost realizing it.
And you, have you had any during these 20 years? What do you think was the best version? Leave us a comment with your opinion about this laptop, and where you think it will be in another two decades, if it still exists of course, since everything changes by leaps and bounds.
