Just as iOS 18.1 is already in its fifth beta, the macOS version does not want to be left behind, and compatibility with AI has made Apple have a year of many betas and new features in all its systems, however, we would not only talk about Apple Intelligence, since there are functions for everyone, even if you are in the EU.

Yesterday we would see a new beta of the next system for Macs, which will benefit from it from the first version of the M1 launched in 2020, and which is expected to arrive officially and finally in October, although it is not at all certain, and Apple has not confirmed an exact day, however, due to the current beta, we do not believe it will be delayed.

macOS 15.1: New Features

Among the latest features added to this beta of macOS we find 2 interesting ones. The first one refers to the low consumption optionssince from now on, they will be much more customizable, and, in addition, a new yellow icon will appear when activating it, something that we recognize very well in iOS, but that we had never seen on Mac. This will be a visual way of knowing if we are saving battery or not, since this mode limits the screen to 60 Hz, reduces notifications, and causes many functions to worsen, which we will not always want, because if we have enough battery, we will prefer to enjoy our entire computer.

On the other hand, as a novelty, we have the option of dragging and dropping files between the Mac and the iPhone thanks to the function iPhone MirroringYes, it is only available to Apple Intelligence users, that is, not yet in European Union countries, however, it is a great tool that continues to improve and that we will soon all be able to enjoy.

Likewise, and as first impressions, not only because of the low power mode, I have noticed how on my 2020 MacBook Air M1 and living in Spain, the battery performance is better than in other betas and versions, so we could be facing an optimization that, unlike iOS 18.1, brings new features but also better performance, or at least for now.

MacOS 15

And you, are you one of those who prefers to install betas even though they don’t guarantee good performance, just to be the first to try them, or do you prefer to wait to see how they work for other people before doing so? The truth is that, regardless of my job, I’ve always liked to try these features, the first one, and except in cases like today’s, they tend to be quite negative, despite bringing new functions, so it is not very advisable, especially if it is your daily use device.

Leave us a comment with your opinion on this matter, if you have already tried this beta version of macOS, and what features or tools you would include in future versions to make it even more interesting. Although we hope that Apple Intelligence reaches everyone soon, since it is the most anticipated feature of this OS.
