Those in Cupertino are in full beta development of macOS Sequoia 15.4, iOS 18.4, and more operating systems. Thanks to this, it’s possible to learn firsthand about the first new features these operating systems will have. Just as we did with iOS 18.4, now it’s the turn of macOS Sequoia 15.4. Specifically, there are four important new features, including the native Mail app, Passwords, Apple Intelligence, and a feature related to the configuration of new Macs.
Apple Intelligence will receive new languages in addition to Spanish
While it’s true that Apple’s AI can be used in the EU through macOS, the reality is that iOS 18.4 will debut Apple Intelligence in our territory for the first time. This would not be possible without the new languages, remember that Apple Intelligence debuted only with the English language in the United States. These are the languages that will arrive in macOS Sequoia 15.4
- German
- Chinese (Simplified)
- Korean
- French
- Italian
- Japanese
- Portuguese
English continues to expand into more countries and will be available in India and Singapore.
Mail app redesign and other updates
Something we didn’t expect was that Apple would have to redesign one of its main apps, Mail, in the middle of developing macOS 15. This already happened in iOS 18.2 for the iPhone, although it will also be arriving on the Mac and iPad with iPadOS 18.4. As we can see in other email managers like Gmail or Spark, the Mail app will be reorganized by categories like Main, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions. You can disable it, or you can use the traditional view of all emails, although it will now be hidden.
If you receive emails from a single sender multiple times, you’ll see them in a new summary view so your inbox won’t be cluttered. And if that’s not enough, your contacts’ photos will appear in the sender list. The visual style is reminiscent of the current Messages app.
Set up a new, faster Mac
The Quick Start feature that’s already a feature when you buy a new iPhone or iPad, or when you factory reset your device, is now coming to macOS 15.4. The Cupertino company makes it easier to set up its devices by scanning an animation from an iPhone or iPad to transfer various settings. You won’t have to manually enter your Apple account anymore, and you’ll save yourself a lot of steps to get started with a new or newly restored Mac.
Timer on verification codes in the Passwords app
One major change will be the expiration timer for verification codes. A small gray ring will appear in the menu bar and turn green to notify you of code activity. This will happen when you need to log in with a verification code. This is part of the Cupertino-based system’s mechanisms. Recall that this week it was revealed that the code was vulnerable up to iOS 18.2.
Fortunately, there’s nothing to worry about anymore; all we have to do is look to the future. What new feature caught your attention most about macOS 15.4? We’re almost in the final weeks to find out the dates of WWDC 2025, the dates when we’ll see Apple’s new operating systems, which will obviously feature some very interesting new features.
