We've been talking all year about a new Home Huba kind of control station where we can manage multiple automations of the Apple ecosystem, such as turning on the lights, listening to music, or even answering a call.
All this thanks to a kind of HomePod, but with a screen, similar to Amazon's Echo Show, but focused on the apple system, so if we have an iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc., it will be much more useful, and will allow us to perform all kinds of actions in seconds.
What the Apple Home Hub will be like
If you are interested in having a smarter home without complications, Apple may soon have something new for you: in the leaked code of iOS 26 information appears about a device that until now was only rumored, a Own Home Hub.
The idea is to create a device that acts as the center of your connected home, something more complete than using an Apple TV or HomePod as a hub. The design would be like a mix between a small iPad and a HomePod with a square screen of about seven inches, and with an optional speaker base for more powerful audio.
The most striking thing about this Home Hub is that It would have a camera and integrated Face ID. It is not to record in high quality, but to recognize who is in front: this would allow the system to automatically switch to the correct profile of each person at home. Each user would see their reminders, controls and preferences without having to ask for it. Plus, you could unlock it without realizing it, so a password wouldn't be necessary, but it would be very secure.
Additionally, the Home Hub would be closely tied to the next powerful version of Siri and Apple Intelligence. This means you could interact with your home using voice in a more natural way, from turning on lights to checking reminders. You would no longer talk to a robot, but to a kind of more human assistant.
In addition to this main hub, the code also mentions another device coded as J229, which would be something like a smart camera with sensors capable of detecting alarm sounds or capturing images, functioning as a complement to the connected home system. That is, we would have more accessories for HomeKit.
Everything indicates that this Home Hub could arrive when Apple launches the big Siri update in 2026, making home control more fluid and personalized without depending so much on the iPhone or iPad. In short, Apple wants your home to better “understand” who you are and respond to you without you having to fight with apps or settings.
For now we will have to wait, and if everything goes well, in a few months we will be able to try it. It looks good, but of course, what will its price be? This is something that many have in mind, since it will make the difference between having it or not, since we will not only spend on it, but on everything it encompasses, since its possibilities make us all want to domotize the home more, and that is worth money. Leave us a comment with your opinion, and if you are one of those considering purchasing it.
