Since Elon Musk took control of Twitter (which became X after the acquisition), many alternatives have appeared, mainly to attract users who did not wish to continue using Elon Musk’s social network. Among these, we find Threads (the most popular after X), Mastodon or the latest: Bluesky. While some people like having accounts everywhere, it’s not necessarily pleasant to post on one and then the other. To address this problem, developer Ben McCarthy launched an application that connects the 3 applications to your posts!
Croissant, the new application that publishes on Threads, Mastodon and Bluesky
A new application called Croissant recently appeared on the App Store, its mission is to make social media management easier for those who use multiple platforms at once. Thanks to this app, it is now possible to publish simultaneously on Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, three of the main alternatives to X (formerly Twitter).
Until now, no truly accessible solution existed for users wishing to share the same publication on these three social networks. The only way (without subscribing to a third-party service) was to post to one first, then manually switch to the other two applications to repeat the operation. The solutions already on the market, such as Buffer, Hootsuite, etc., were mainly intended for businesses and content creators, with subscriptions that were often expensive and not necessarily suitable for associations, self-employed people or individuals.
Croissant, a simple and affordable solution
This is where Croissant stands out. Available for free download, it offers a reasonable subscription of $2.99 per month, allowing you to post simultaneously on all three platforms. A welcome option for those looking for a simple, quick and inexpensive solution to manage their presence on these emerging social networks.
This application is the result of the collaboration between Ben McCarthy, a designer and developer based in Dublin, already known for his photo application Obscura, and Aaron Vegh, a Canadian iOS developer. Their goal? Make “multiple posting” smoother and less frustrating.
McCarthy also expressed his annoyance at the complexity of publishing articles on several platforms, particularly with regard to the management of images and alternative text. With Croissantthey want to simplify this task for regular users of the three social networks, without imposing on them the constraints of professional tools.
Motivated by a competition run by RevenueCat, McCarthy managed to develop the app in less than a month. Even if some minor bugs may appear, the application is already stable and functional. Regular updates are already planned to correct these problems and enrich the user experience.
At launch, Croissant allows you to publish directly to Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads. However, the social network X is not one of the supported platforms. This absence is linked to the preference of Elon Musk to limit interactions with X via third-party applications, in particular for advertising and engagement reasons.
