Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst specializing in new technologies and in particular Apple, revealed today that the most valuable company on the stock market is actively preparing the next generation of its Vision Pro headset, production of which is planned for the second half of the year 2025.
A much more powerful M5 chip
Although Kuo confirms that the new Vision Pro will not see any major changes in terms of design or general specifications, so it will still be as heavy and imposing, its heart will be more powerful. The mixed reality headset will be powered by the M5 chip, a substantial upgrade over the M2 chip found in the first generation model. We imagine that the R1 chip, entirely dedicated to processing data transmitted by cameras, sensors and microphones, will also be renewed. Probably replaced by the R2 chip.
Apple Intelligence
While Apple hasn’t said a word about the arrival of Apple Intelligence features on the original Vision Pro, the evidence is consistent. The visionOS 2 source code suggests an imminent arrival, as does the fact that iPads and Macs equipped with an M2 chip are compatible. Even those with an M1 processor. There is therefore no reason why he should not take advantage of it, unless Apple has decided otherwise.
In any case, thanks to the increased processing power of the M5 chip, Kuo believes that the second generation of Vision Pro will offer the “best Apple Intelligence user experience”, although we don’t yet see the difference there would be with a current Mac M3 for example.
Price and entry-level model
The price of the Vision Pro 2 should remain close to that of the first generation model, which starts at 3,999 euros here, or 3,499 dollars in the USA. In addition, Apple is reportedly working on a more affordable entry-level version, tentatively called “Apple Vision.”
