This is something that was expected in the Vision Pro, at least with the intention of putting the first ones aside, and being able to obtain the second, improved version, for a more affordable price. However, Apple has said no, and if you have some, you have to keep them, or sell them elsewhere.
You will not be able to exchange the Vision Pro
Apple has confirmed that its first mixed reality headset, the Original Vision Proyou will not be accepted into their trade-in program to get a discount when purchasing the new model. This means that those who paid around $3,499 For the device they will not receive a voucher to purchase any other product, not even if they want to upgrade to the new model.
The news, which appeared in the fine print of an official statement, took many users by surprise, since Apple usually offers renewal plans for products such as the iPhone or the Mac. In this case, the company has decided to leave out the Vision Pro, possibly because it is a first-generation product with a high manufacturing cost, which would give many the option of purchasing an iPhone or a Mac, for free.
The new Vision Pro 2025 brings several important improvements: a chip M5 more powerful, a screen with 120Hz refresh rate and a new Dual Knit band more comfortable. However, this band can also be used with the previous model and is sold separately, so the difference is not that big.
The original model maintains the chip M2a maximum refresh rate of 100Hz and the Solo Knit band.
