Apple plans to release iOS 18.2 for iPhones during the first week of decemberas reported by Mark Gurman, a renowned analyst for the Californian company, in his newsletter Power On. This operating system update, which has become one of the most anticipated, includes a series of improvements focused on artificial intelligence and personalization, as well as new options for users in several English-speaking countries.
Among the most notable new features of iOS 18.2 is Genmoji, a function that allows create custom emojis quickly and easily. This tool gives users the ability to generate unique emoticons, something that could change the way they interact in messaging applications like WhatsApp or iMessage. Another important novelty is Image Playgroundwhich allows you to generate images with a creative and picturesque style. Besides, Image Wandavailable in the Notes app, will turn simple sketches into detailed illustrations, expanding the drawing and design possibilities on iPhone.
Another innovation that comes with iOS 18.2 is the integration of ChatGPT on Siri. This advancement allows users to leverage the advanced language model for more accurate and contextual responses, significantly improving the virtual assistant experience. In the additional features section, iOS 18.2 adds a new section in the settings called “Default Applications”. This option could allow users to customize their default applicationssomething that many have been requesting for a long time. Additionally, Apple News+ in the United States now includes daily Sudoku puzzles, while in Australia an option to report nude content in iMessage is added.
According to Gurman, Apple will continue to develop artificial intelligence in future updates, with a version iOS 18.4 expected in April. This update could bring additional improvements to Siri, including better understanding of personal context and recognition of what’s on the screen, making the iPhone an even smarter tool.
