In the latest watchOS update, version 11.2, Apple introduced a discreet but practical feature to improve the interaction between the Apple Watch and iPhone during video recording sessions. This update allows users to use the Camera Remote app on their watch to not only start and stop video recording on their iPhone, but now also to pause and resume them. A little extra thing that makes the difference.

Subtle but useful

Previously, Apple’s app was limited to initiating and concluding video capture, which meant pausing required access to the iPhone itself. With watchOS 11.2, when a video is recorded via iPhone, a new pause button becomes visible on the left side of the Apple Watch’s “Camera Remote” interface. This button allows you to immediately pause recording. Resumption of recording is just as simple by pressing the familiar red record button.

This improvement aligns with a similar feature introduced to the iPhone Camera app with the iOS 18 update, demonstrating the brand’s engineers’ commitment to an ever more cohesive ecosystem.

Beyond video recording capabilities, watchOS 11.2 also expands the geographic reach of the Tides app. Now, Chinese users can access detailed tide information for coastal areas, providing valuable data to swimmers, sailors or anyone interested in maritime activities from their wrist.

This update, which is expected to roll out next Monday alongside iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, tvOS 18.2, HomePod OS 18.2, macOS 15.2 and visionOS 2.2.
