Apple is preparing to launch visionOS 2.2 next week, with two major new features. The first, already seen, concerns the ultra-wide screen when connected to the Mac. The second is an interesting new feature for sports fans: the ability to watch up to five matches simultaneously via the option Multiview.
For sports fans
The new option Multiview is operational since visionOS 2.2 RC released yesterday with the possibility of seeing up to 5 video streams at the same time. Thanks to SharePlay integration, Vision Pro users can now enjoy these sporting events together in a shared virtual space, providing a unique remote experience with family or friends.
What to remember:
- Supported Leagues : This feature is designed for fans of Major League Soccer (MLS) and Major League Baseball (MLB), leveraging Apple’s partnerships with these leagues through Apple TV+.
- 5 video streams at the same time
- Limitation : Currently, this functionality does not extend to other sports like American football or hockey.
Other new features in visionOS 2.2
If this new feature is a good surprise, remember that visionOS 2.2 also adds:
- Mac virtual screen : New aspect ratios for virtual displays are introduced, with options for a 21:9 (wide) and 32:9 (ultra-wide) view, which Apple describes as similar to two 5K monitors adjacent to each other to the other.
- Audio routing : Users can now direct audio from their Mac to the Vision Pro for a more integrated audio experience.
- Web Integration : Support for viewing spatial photos and videos directly on web pages has been added, enriching the browsing experience in visionOS.
The visionOS 2.2 update is scheduled for Monday, December 9, promising to deliver an improved experience for Apple Vision Pro users. Here, it starts to be really interesting, especially since visionOS 2.1 brought support for physical keyboards in mixed reality.
