Today everything revolves around being connected, with notifications that do not stop arriving, messages that require immediate response and social networks that are updated every three seconds. But what would happen if We turn off the Internet on the iPhone For a whole day?
It is not about putting it in mode not to bother, but of completely deactivating the wifi and mobile data. Airplane mode without excuses, but with the iPhone working. I did it for 24 hours And the result left me very surprised.
Applications that work without the Internet
The idea arose as a personal challenge, tired of the constant digital noise. I wanted to know what functions of the iPhone they still make sense when the Internet disappears. Spoiler: many more than we imagine, although with nuances. At 9:00 in the morning I deactivated everything. No mobile data, no Wifi, no bluetooth connected to networks (I also lost connection with my Apple Watch). Only me and an iPhone reduced to its most basic essence.
The first thing I noticed was silence. Not a single notification throughout the morning. Neither WhatsApp, Nor Instagram, nor Correosnor apps alerts. And instead of generating anxiety, I felt released. The funny thing is that the mobile stopped feeling as a powerful distraction and became a tool. I used the notes of notes to write fast ideas, I checked my list of tasks in reminders, I marked things on the calendar (That, by the way, it is still working without connection although it stops synchronizing on other devices), and I consulted the file app to read PDFs that I had saved.
Of course, if you have nothing discharged previously, it can be more complicated. Apple Music, for example, becomes useless if you don't have downloaded songs. The same with Netflix, YouTube or any other streaming platform. The trick is to anticipate, so everything you have Saved locallyon the device, it will work without problems, even Apple Books books, provided they are stored on the device.
I was surprised for good Apple maps app. While you need connection to draw routes, you can see maps saved in the cache, at least areas that you have recently visited. It is not ideal to explore new areas, but you can get you out of trouble if you lose your neighborhood.
The camera, of course, remains 100% functional. During those 24 hours I took more photos than in a whole week. I focused on the framing, in the light, at the time, without the pressure of having to raise it to Instagram or send it by WhatsApp. The gallery is still active, so you can edit images, cut videos and even add filters.

What you really miss are services such as time or news. You enter the time app due to inertia, but you will see that it does not load any weather. There you realize to what extent the iPhone is designed to depend on the cloud. And how, without connection to the network, it transforms into something else: a very advanced notes, a powerful camera or an offline music player. That is, it is more a tool than a device to connect with others.
The next day, when connecting everything again, the mobile began to receive an overwhelming amount of notifications in seconds, and the curious thing was that many seemed irrelevant to me. It is as if that blackout had given me perspective about what is worth attending and what not. Even I deactivated some alerts forever.
