There are many people who, on these dates, have received a Apple Watch as a gift, so they are experimenting with it. However, there is something that they are not able to modify, or they are not sure if they can, and that is Apple's default activity rings.
These rings they mark us minutes of exercise, total kcal burned, and hours standingHowever, there are people, like in my case, who prefer other values, be it the floors climbed, or the hours of sleep we get, however, can it be changed?
Modify Apple Watch rings
During these dates, Apple has launched an advertisement encouraging people to use the watch to meet their goals, whether to end the year in shape, or to start the new year as a purpose, something very common. In it, we can see these characteristics, and the famous three-color rings, but, as we said, are they always the same?
And, yes, Apple allows you to change them, but only internally, that is, set a different goal for each color, but do not modify its activity, so if you want, as in my case, to change the hours spent standing for hours asleep or floors raised, you won't be able toand you will need to use other external widgets or simply enter all the statistics of each one.
This is something that, to be honest, we do not understand about Apple, because, with how much the device costs, and the number of metrics it takes, they should let us select the objectives we want, since climbing 10 floors a day is possibly healthier than hours standing, which count even if we only get up to lower the blinds, so it is not a ring that, personally, I find very useful, since, in addition, we can configure it to notify us if we have been sitting for a long time, to stretch our legs, something that resembles what this ring is looking for, but we already have it this way.
- Red ring (move): Represents the active calories burned during the day, that is, the calories expended when performing activities that are not sedentary. You can complete it by walking, climbing stairs, dancing or any movement that involves physical effort, whether mild or not.
- Green ring (exercise): Measures minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity, such as brisk walking, running, swimming, or cycling. The default goal is to achieve at least 30 minutes a day, although you can adjust this according to your preferences. It activates when your heart rate and movement exceed a certain level (something Apple considers by default), so it's not worth hanging around the house.
- Blue ring (standing): Indicates the times when you stand up and move for at least one minute. To complete it, you need to get up and move every hour for 12 hours a day (or however many you set). This ring motivates you not to lie on the couch all afternoon.
Therefore, unfortunately it is what it is, and barring an update, we will have to settle for the fact that, at least, Apple allows us to modify the objective of these, since not all of us are looking for the same thing.
