Xiaomi continues to invest heavily in innovation and doesn’t just want to settle for its XRING O1. The Chinese manufacturer wants to break new ground by developing a new 2K Real RGB OLED technology together with TCL, which promises to be a game-changer. This new screen is reportedly the one we’d see on the Xiaomi 16, and according to early previews, it’s not only sharper but also more durable.
According to sources like Gizchina, Xiaomi is reportedly betting on not only offering better resolution and thinner edges in its next flagship. This new 2K Real RGB OLED display features independent RGB subpixels, unlike the OLED technology used so far in its phones, resulting in sharper images and clearer text.
These screens would have greater durability
In addition to greater sharpness, one of the strengths of this technology is its durability. It’s well known that OLED displays wear out more quickly, especially in certain pixel colors. Well, Xiaomi has been working to optimize efficiency, increasing the lifespan of these 2K Real RGB OLED displays and reducing risks such as burn-in, which conventional OLED displays have always suffered from.
The production of these new displays will be handled by TCL Huaxing, a leading manufacturer in the industry that brings credibility and quality to the project. This new partnership allows Xiaomi to take the visual leap forward while maintaining a competitive price.
Apparently, the first phones to incorporate this new technology will be the Xiaomi Mi 16 and Redmi K90 (Poco F8). This means that very soon, probably in the last quarter of 2025, we will be able to test the quality of these 2K Real RGB OLED panels and see if they really live up to expectations. Ultimately, Xiaomi is not only content with developing its own processors but also, together with TCL, seeks to become one of the most innovative brands on the market.
