If you have an iPhone, it is possible that when changing the brightness, you have noticed an option that comes by default on your screen, but you do not know exactly what it is for. We explain the use you can give to True Tone.
If you have changed your screen for another non -original, or you have acquired a second -hand iPhone and you do not know, you can look at the option, which should appear by holding the brightness adjustment. In case it does not appear, your screen would not be the factory, and, therefore, you would not have this available tool.
How True Tone works
True Tone is a function of the iPhone that Automatically adjust the screen color temperature According to environmental light, so that colors look more natural and comfortable for sight. When activated, True Tone adapts the white balance, increasing the warmth of the screen (warmer tones) when you are in an environment with yellow light or decreasing warmth (making the coldest screen) when you are in an environment with white or blue light.
The function aims reduce visual fatigue of users, especially when we use it for long periods, getting our eyes not to get so tired, although we simply see the screen as if it were another normal without True Tone. However, if we deactivate it, we will notice that color change, and even seem weird until we get used to it, the same that happens backwards, if we did not have it active.
As for battery consumption, many people think that, when using light sensors to adjust the color and screen brightness, their autonomy is reduced, however, it is not so, because these sensors, despite having deactivated the True Tone, continue to function to calibrate the luminosity of the same, so we will not gain anything taking them away.
In summary, the advantages that we can appreciate of this function are the following:
Advantages of True Tone
- Improve the Visual comfortespecially under changing lighting conditions or when using the device for prolonged periods.
- It makes the colors of the screen look more natural in photos, texts and applications.
- It is ideal for reading, since it reduces eye fatigue caused by cold lights in warm environments.

And you, did you know that your iPhone had this tool? By default it is usually activated, although you may have disabled it without wanting and you have not noticed, so you can take a look, and if you did not know it, start trying it. At first you will notice the screen somewhat rare, but later you will get used to it and will be the other way around, noticing it different if you take it away, so we recommend doing it and protect your view, especially if you are one of those who use the mobile phone many hours a day.
You can activate or deactivate True tone in Configuration> screen and brightnessor directly from the control center, without the need to restart the iPhone, as it will apply directly.
