It was a little over a year ago now, Lenovo in turn tried its luck on the “PC in the form of a portable console” with his Legion GO. More imposing than a Nintendo Switch, Lenovo’s Legion GO nevertheless took up its concept, with detachable controllers on either side of the screen. Added to this was an adjustable support, to place the console on a table. But despite its real qualities, Lenovo’s “PC console” didn’t really excite us. At CES 2025, the brand wanted to present a new S version of its machine.
The Lenovo Legion also available in S version
A Lenogo Legion GO S that we have already been able to take in hand on the brand’s stand at CES 2025. The opportunity to discover this new version which now completely assumes its status as a portable console. Indeed, and unlike the first model, no detachable controller here (like on a Nintendo Switch Lite), and we therefore benefit from a real portable console and not a hybrid product.
In terms of design, we find on the top the two USB-C ports already present on the previous version, without forgetting a trackpad installed under the right joystick. The machine is also a little more compact, with an LCD screen whose diagonal goes from 8.8″ to 8″, with a definition of 1920 x 1200 pixels (120 Hz compatible).
Under the hood, the machine can benefit from an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme and 32 GB of DDR, without forgetting a 1 TB SSD, still with a Windows 11 interface, but also Steam OS compatibility. Enough to delight the many PC players with a (very) large Steam library, and to compete with a certain Steam Deck on its land.
On the battery side, we benefit here from a 55.5 Wh unit, capable of recovering around 85% of the charge in just one hour. On the scale, the machine weighs just under 750 grams, and Lenovo has released its Legion Go S in two colors, namely white for the Windows version and Purple for Steam OS.
Finally, in terms of price and availability, the Lenovo Legion Go S in its Windows 11 version is expected this January, at a price of $729. You will have to wait until May to see the version “ Powered by SteamOS », which will be displayed at the price of 499 dollars.
And you, rather Windows 11 or SteamOS?
