apple studio display iconRoss Young predicts that the Pro Display XDR 2 will feature a quantum dot display, a technology already present in the new MacBook Pro M4. This assumption is consistent, given the price of the device.

Pro Display XDR 2

According to Ross Youngrecognized expert, Apple’s next Pro Display XDR should be equipped with a quantum dot screen, a technology that Apple has just integrated into its recent MacBook Pro M4. Young claims that this latest generation quantum dot technology outperforms the KSF phosphor film used in the first generation Pro Display XDR and older MacBook Pros.

Technology Quantum Dot (quantum dot) uses semiconductor nanocrystals that emit precise light when stimulated. In displays, these dots improve color accuracy, brightness and energy efficiency by generating purer colors. They are often used in high-end televisions and monitors for better picture quality, with deeper blacks and a wide color gamut.

In five years, the world of technology has seen many upheavals. The Pro Display XDR 2 should modernize Apple’s Pro display. Expectations include a 120 Hz screen, Thunderbolt 5, increased peak brightness, a quantum dot mini-LED panel and perhaps a price below €5,000.

The Pro Display XDR 2 is awaited by the professional community. The first version was unveiled in June 2019 during WWDC and put on sale on December 10, 2019, almost five years ago. With a starting price of €5,384 in France, it is intended for a very specific clientele. Apple is aware of this, and that’s why they launched the Studio Display in 2022, a more affordable version than the Pro Display XDR. The release of a Studio Display 2 is also eagerly awaited.
