Honor has officially presented the Magic V6 in China, the folding smartphone that it had already shown at MWC 2026 but without revealing its price. Now that the data is on the table, the situation for Samsung becomes complicated: the base model starts in a few 1,300 dollars (about 8,999 yuan)while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 equivalent is sold in China for almost double, close to $2,500.

Beyond the price, the Magic V6 draws attention for its dimensions: only 8.75 mm folded thickness and 219 grams weight. In the hand it looks like a conventional high-end mobile phone, something that can't always be said about its rivals. The red finish of the test model, with a suede-like texture and gold details, looks downright different from what Samsung or Google offer.

The battery, the most difficult argument to refute

The fact that is most difficult to ignore in the specifications of the Magic V6 is its 6,850 mAh battery—the 1 TB version reaches 7,150 mAhalthough the global variant will remain at 6,660 mAh. To contextualize: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 It has 4,400 mAh and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, 5,015 mAh. Stuffing that capability into such a fine chassis is a real engineering achievement, not marketing.

Fast charging accompanies: 80W per cable and 66W wireless. Performance is provided by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5and both the interior screen (7.95″) and the exterior (6.52″) operate at 120 Hz with up to 5,000 and 6,000 nits respectively. Added to this is the IP68 and IP69 certification, something that no foldable had achieved until now.

The doubts that remain

General design of the Honor Magic V6, the thinnest

The Magic V6 Not yet available outside of China. The global arrival is expected for the second half of 2026, only with the 16 GB and 512 GB model, and the price in Western markets could be quite far from the Chinese launch — which would lower that competitive argument against Samsung considerably.

Added to this are Honor's own unknowns in Europe: still uneven presence, unconfirmed long-term update support. Even so, the Magic V6 is a reminder of something that has been evident for a long time: Honor, Huawei and OPPO have been giving engineering lessons in foldables for years. Samsung and Google have work ahead of them, and the price It is no longer your best shield.
