Apple is already preparing the arrival for 2025 of the next generation of iPad Air, which would give an unexpected leap in screen quality, with panels that would give a significant leap in terms of their refresh rate, giving rise to an experience more fluid visual.

According to the latest rumors that reach us, Apple wants incorporate 90Hz refresh rate on their screens for the next iPad Air. In addition, it would not only remain in the brand’s mid-range tablet, but it also plans to bring it to devices such as the 24-inch iMac and the Studio Display, which are currently limited to 60Hz.

The new iPad Air will have a 90Hz screen

This update highlights Apple’s commitment to improving the user experience in its range of devices, providing an alternative to the 120Hz screen present in its Pro range products.

While Apple’s Pro devices have the 120Hz ProMotion technologythe arrival of a 90Hz screen on the iPad Air would be an interesting intermediate point for users looking for a more fluid experience without having to purchase the most expensive models. This screen will allow you to scroll through the user interface, watch videos and play games in a much smoother way than the current 60Hz, without reaching the extreme level of fluidity offered by ProMotion technology.

If confirmed, the iPad Air with a 90Hz screen would arrive with the next generation of this device in 2025. This improvement would be a significant change compared to the current model, launched in May 2024 with the M2 chip, which also brought with it a larger version 13 inches. Design-wise, the new iPad Air is unlikely to see a significant redesign as Apple could focus on internal improvementssuch as the jump to the M3 chip or even an M4.

New iPad Air in 2025

The rumor of the adoption of a 90Hz screen is not limited only to the iPad Air. Sources say Apple could expand this technology to other devices, including the 24-inch iMac and the Studio Display. These products currently offer a 60Hz display, so the change would be a noticeable improvement to the viewing experience on these devices.

However, the implementation of this 90Hz display on the iMac and Studio Display it could take longer to arrive. Apple recently updated the iMac with the M4 chip with no changes to the design or display specifications, suggesting that this refresh rate improvement won’t come right away. Likewise, there is no indication that the Studio Display will receive a renewal in the short term, which points to a long wait for these devices to adopt said technology.

These new iPad Air would incorporate the M3 chip for the first time, although Apple may launch directly to the fourth generation of the processor, and they would arrive in the first half of 2025. They will be equipped with 90Hz screens, so Apple wants to better compete with other brands that already offer high refresh rates in their mid-range products.
