Something big is brewing at Apple, something one of the California company’s top experts has dubbed a “product renaissance.” According to Mark Gurman in Bloomberg, 2027 could be one of Apple’s most important years, a year in which we’ll see many new features across several of its devices.

There’s a year and a half left until 2027, and we have plenty of exciting releases coming up before then, like the imminent iOS 19 or the iPhone 17 Air, which we’ll see at the end of the year. But it seems these new features will pale in comparison to what’s coming next, at least according to the rumors.
These are some of the big new features Apple could present in 2027, although we could see new features in other types of devices:
- Foldable iPhone – Apple is expected to unveil it in late 2026, though it may not be released until 2027. Apple is said to have fixed all the issues with foldable devices by completely removing the crease that appears where the screen folds.
- iPhone 20th Anniversary: Similar to what happened with the iPhone X, Apple is planning a very ambitious iPhone XX with a design that marks the future. Mark Gurman describes the device as “a curved iPhone made mostly of glass, with no cutout in the screen.”
- AI-powered devices: On the one hand, a rival to Meta’s Ray-Ban sunglasses is expected, powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple also plans to include cameras in AirPods and the Apple Watch that recognize our surroundings using AI.
- Robots: Apple has a full robotics team; in fact, we’ve already seen the first Apple robot . These robots are expected to be part of the smart home and assist users in their daily lives, again powered by Apple Intelligence.
- New device: Apple also has plans for a new device that would be a mix of a foldable iPad and a touchscreen Mac.
There are certainly many interesting new features, and there’s still a long way to go until 2027. It’s true that Apple has been somewhat stagnant for some time now. Beyond the Apple Vision Pro, which is a niche device, the devices of recent years have been fairly consistent, and we haven’t had many new features.
However, we know Apple is working on big things, though we’ll have to wait more than a year to see them in action. Let’s hope the wait is worth it and Apple surprises us with new designs and devices. Although 2025 and 2026 could also be important years.
